Previously JD’s Smokehouse, Smokehouse Canton has been home to a pop up from local food truck favorites, the Smoking Swine. Juicy pulled pork and brisket alongside tasty collards and spicy “Slap Yo Mama Mac and Cheese” has been piled on the plates of Canton meat lovers for just a few months. But now, Drew Pumphrey and his Smoking Swine team are going “whole hog” in their food truck venture, adding (twenty!) new menu items and switching up some ingredients, leaving the kitchen at Smokehouse open for the next chef.

And who better to pop into that kitchen than Chef Jesse Sandlin? According to Smokehouse Canton, Sandlin will be the next to step into the role of their consultant/chef. You may know her as a previous Top Chef contestant or from her prior impressive work as the Executive Chef at Abacrombie. We most recently remember her delectable ribs, pulled pork, and brisket as well as the tasty deviled eggs and golden hush puppies she was serving up at the hip Harbor East spot, Oliver Speck’s.

The word from Smokehouse is that the menu will remain similar, and we’re just fine with that since Sandlin has clearly proven her strength in preparing this style of smoky cuisine. That said, we look forward to seeing Sandlin add her creative twists to some of the comfort food favorites we anticipate being on the menu.
