Midtown BBQ and Brew

Mt. Vernon - Monument and Churcha

Whether it’s a no-muss, no-fuss lunch you are looking for, or a comfortable place to settle in for the evening with some stick-to-your ribs dishes and a cold brew, Midtown BBQ and Brew consistently delivers.

This local barbeque joint at 15 E. Centre Street is a welcome newcomer to the Mt. Vernon area. Despite its fairly recent opening, Midtown BBQ and Brew has already built a local following with their attentive service and lip-smacking savory barbeque.

Midtown offers a variety of tasty starters, soups, salads, and sandwiches, but the piece de resistance is, of course, their barbeque! Their tender, smoky chicken (thighs, breast, or ½ chicken), ribs, pulled pork or chicken, and housemade sausages are all touted as being free range, locally and sustainable farmed, and slow-smoked in-house.

All meats are served with a choice of the restaurant’s original housemade sauces ranging from a “Kansas City-style sweet tomato and molasses based” sauce (Red BBQ) to their hotter sauces: Nuclear, and Zombie Apocalypse. For the very daring, Midtown offers the Ghost’s Revenge, their spiciest sauce made from a reduction of ghost peppers. Other choices include a Thai inspired peanut sauce, a Texas style yellow sauce, and a bacon marmalade.

Top off your order with two of their sides including french fries, slaw, beans, cornbead or mac and cheese, and don’t forget to wash down your barbeque with a local brew from their rotating taps, or a bottle from their list.

Midtown BBQ and Brew has, hands down, the best barbeque in this part of town and some of the best weekday specials and entertainment as well. During the week, enjoy specials on tequila, “big ass beers,” wine, or appetizers and you may possibly find yourself drawn into trivia, comedy shows or open mic opportunities, karaoke, or perhaps just the conversation of the friendly locals.
